Emma approached Mitsubishi. Her charm and their generosity in giving a vehicle at a large discount resulted in a magnificent 4x4 all-terrain vehicle. The next problem was to raise the required sum. Emma decided to do a sponsored wing-walk - despite being terrified of heights.

New Scale Donated to Elephant Nature Park

With today's more concentrated and powerful medicines, the ability to weigh an elephant accurately means better medication. A scale is also a good tool for measuring the development and growth of babies as well as noticing trends in weight gain (too much of a good thing is not always so good, as we know) or weight loss (often the first symptom of an elephant needing some sort of medical or dietary help).

Phyl Kirkland is a Trustee of Elephant Nature Foundation UK, and has volunteered at Elephant Nature Park more times than even an elephant could remember. At our request, she has written up a list of suggestions for future volunteers, to help them get the most out of their time at the Park.

Presented in the book are over 200 photographs taken by Lek at the Park over the past five years. Her photos capture the playful antics of the elephants as well as reveal the complex relationships that exist between them.

It's not often that Sangduen "Lek" Chailert, Founder and Director of Elephant Nature Park finds herself in the freezing cold of a European February but this year she made the 5000-kilometer trip from the jungle in Thailand to the Hungarian capital of Budapest. An exhibition of Lek's photographs will be on display in the city for the next two months and Lek traveled to take part in the press conference and the grand opening of Life In The Elephant Nature Park.
